TMN will support the Introduction of Electronic Payments such as Transportation E-Cash on Hiroshima Electric Railway’s New Ticketing System “MOBIRY DAYS”
Contributing to Regional Revitalization by Connecting Mobility and Places of Spending at the Destination
Transaction Media Networks, Inc. (TMN) has announced that it will participate in introducing electronic payments such as transportation e-cash on Hiroshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (Hiroshima Electric Railway)’s new ticketing system MOBIRY DAYS.
TMN will further strengthen its transaction platform services business and promote measures that contribute to local community revitalization through the “MOBIRY DAYS” initiative.
Transportation E-Cash Transaction in a Single Terminal, even on a New System
Increasing number of regional public transportation companies are cancelling its acceptance of transportation e-cash due to its high renewal cost, after initially introducing them due to the government promotion of electronic payments acceptance.
Amid this trend, Hiroshima Electric Railway launched its new ticketing system MOBIRY DAYS in September 2024.
Due to this launch, the existing ticketing system service that accepted transportation e-cash, PASPY, is discontinued in March 2025.
Transportation e-cash is still accepted on Hiroshima Electric Railway services, but the new system requires the train attendant to use its handheld terminal to accept, instead of paying on the fixed terminal installed at the boarding gate of the train car. This operational change significantly affects the service delivery and creating an issue to maintain convenience.
MOBIRY DAYS uses a cloud-based system, and by operating it in parallel with TMN's cloud-based payment service, it is possible to use transportation e-cash with a single MOBIRY DAYS dedicated terminal. TMN's cloud-based payment service is connected to more than 1 million payment terminals nationwide, and its extensive track record has been highly evaluated, leading to its adoption.
TMN's Transaction Platform Services that connects Places of Mobility X Places of Spending
TMN provides electronic payment services mainly to retail businesses such as supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacies nationwide, but also believes that its support of electronic payments on local public transportation will not only improve convenience but also connect places of mobility and spending at destinations, which will lead to increase the flow of the people and revitalize the local communities.
TMN is also promoting its transaction platform services that create new values by connecting all kinds of data. It is expected that TMN’s role as a hub connecting transportation and local communities will be strengthened through the MOBIRY DAYS initiative, it will become a driving force of promotion the transaction platform services. TMN will continue to contribute to a sustainable regional transportation system by aiming to expand its service provision in the transportation field.
