Expanding from Payment Services to Digital Transformation Support for Pharmacies

Transaction Media Networks, Inc. (TMN) announced that it has begun the introduction of Cloud POS, TMN's cloud POS system to KUSURI NO AOKI Holdings Co., Ltd. (KUSURI NO AOKI).

Cloud POS began operation in two new KUSURI NO AOKI locations that opened in September, and TMN plans to further expand the system in the future. This is the first case of TMN's cloud-based POS system introduced to a physical store.

Expanding Services Provision to KUSURI NO AOKI by using the Payment Service as a Hook

TMN has been deepening its understanding of KUSURI NO AOKI's payment and business environment, all the while contributing to the improvement of customer experience by providing e-cash, QR/barcode payment services, as well as in-house e-cash service as part of its CRM (Customer Relationship Management) service.

With the introduction of Cloud POS as TMN's first cloud-based POS system project at a major pharmacy store chain like KUSURI NO AOKI, TMN aims to accumulate experience and knowledge, including maintenance and operation, of a large-scale business POS system by responding to new demands through operation and improving its stable service quality.

Entering the POS Market with Cloud POS for Large-scale Businesses

The POS system for large-scale business operators with multiple stores tends to have high complexity, because of its implementation of many customized functions through various accounting patterns and diverse services, from unique discount rules, point awarding, to functions added through operation. As a result, it is susceptible to vendor lock-in, and TMN believes that the continued use of legacy systems is one of the factors that hinders digital transformation.

Cloud-based mobile POS using tablet terminals and other devices has become more widespread among small businesses, mainly restaurants, in recent years. However, on-premises POS systems are still the mainstream for large-scale businesses, and it is one of the areas where the transition to cloud-based systems has not progressed.

In the retail industry, including pharmacies, the business environment is changing at a dizzying pace due to labor shortages and industry restructuring. TMN believes that data utilization is effective for customer retention and business efficiency in such situations and has developed a cloud-based POS system that can utilize purchase data in real-time.

Further Functions Expansion and Solutions Development for Real-Time Data Utilization in the Future

TMN aims to add more functions to the Cloud POS as microservices in the future, to increase versatility and provide innovative solutions that promote the real-time utilization of POS data aggregated in the cloud.

In addition to Cloud POS as an information processing business, TMN provides Data Hub service that serves as the foundation for data utilization such as data preservation and data cleansing. By providing DX services for these distributors, TMN will contribute to the creation of a more convenient and safe consumption environment.
