Fukushima Transportation and Aizu Bus Begin Accepting Various Electronic Payment Services

Ride with Contactless Credit/Debit Card, E-Cash and QR Code Payment!

Fukushima Transportation Inc. (Fukushima Transportation), Aizu Bus Co., Ltd. (Aizu Bus), Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co., Ltd. (SMCC), JCB Co., Ltd. (JCB), QUADRAC Co., Ltd. (QUADRAC), Transaction Media Networks, Inc. (TMN), and Lesip Corporation (Lesip) will launch a service for credit/debit card contactless payment, e-cash payment, and QR code payment*1 on all public buses (approximately 500 units) operated by Fukushima Transportation and Aizu Bus, as well as on the Fukushima Transportation’s Iizaka Line.

The above group will also launch the joint use of the NORUCA and AIZU NORUCA IC cards, a commuter pass purchase service on the web, and an auto-recharge service.

In addition, the group plans to start accepting transportation e-cash such as Suica in FY2025 (available at ticket vending machines on the Iizaka Line from October 16).

Scope of introduction
  • All general route buses of Fukushima Transportation and Aizu Bus (500 units in total)

  • As previously accepted, passengers can also pay by cash, NORUCA, and AIZU NORUCA.
  • Passengers can use cards that support contactless payment (credit, debit, prepaid) and smartphones with the same card registered.

  • When paying in cash, please take a numbered ticket.

How to use on a train (Iizaka Line)

  • Touch your card or smartphone to the ticket gate.

  • Purchase tickets at a station ticket vending machine that accepts electronic payment.

  • Give your ticket to the station staff or conductor.

New services of "NORUCA" and "AIZU NORUCA"

  • The "Common Usage Service", "Web Commuter Pass Purchase", and "Auto Charge" services of "NORUCA" and "AIZU NORUCA" will start on October 16 (Wednesday).
  • Common Usage Service
  • Passengers will be able to ride the Fukushima Transportation public bus and train with "AIZU NORUCA" and the Aizu Bus route bus with "NORUCA".
  • Charging outside the issuing company is only possible on the bus (not at the counter). You can also get a premium when charging at another company.
  • Commuter passes cannot be issued to other companies' cards. Commuter passes for Fukushima Kotsu can only be issued to "NORUCA", and commuter passes for Aizu Bus can only be issued to "AIZU NORUCA".

  • Passengers will be able to purchase "NORUCA" and "AIZU NORUCA" continuous commuter passes on the web and will no longer need to come to the counter to renew their commuter pass.
  • Auto Recharge
  • If the balance of "NORUCA" or "AIZU NORUCA" falls below the set amount, it will be possible to charge it automatically, and there will be no need to charge it each time.
  • It is necessary to set up auto recharge and register a credit card in advance on the web service.
  • With the launch of each service, from Oct. 16th (Wednesday), the charge amount premium to NORUCA will be changed to "6%". In addition, the sale of NORUCA Student Discount Coupons and NORUCA Choko Eco Coupons will be discontinued. Charged amount can be used without expiration date if charged on or before Oct. 15th.
