New Electronic Payment Support for Chizu Express’s Onboard Ticketing
Credit Card and E-Cash will be Accepted from March 16th
Chizu Express Co., Ltd. (Chizu Express) and Toyo Denki Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Toyo Denki Manufacturing) and Transaction Media Networks, Inc. TMN) will begin accepting credit cards and e-cash as payment methods for tickets issued by Chizu Express crew on its limited express train "Super Hakuto" from March 16th, 2024.
TMN's mobile electronic payment terminal UT-P10 will be used as crew-operated terminals to issue tickets on the train.
Crew-operated terminals used by railway companies must be equipped with operation applications that conform to each railway company's own routes, fares, fee systems, and services. Equipment itself is also expensive, making it difficult to add electronic payment functions, causing a roadblock to electronic payments available in regional transportation.
Therefore, Chizu Express, Toyo Denki Manufacturing, and TMN have developed an electronic payment-compatible crew-operated terminal that can be introduced at a low cost by customizing TMN's electronic payment terminal.

An application for ticket issuance is developed by Toyo Denki Manufacturing and TMN's payment application are linked, making it possible to issue tickets and process payments with a single crew-operated terminal.
The three parties aim to improve convenience for passengers within Japan and from overseas and raise the operational efficiency of crew by supporting electronic payments.
What’s Next?
Going forward, the three parties will continue to work to improve the convenience of regional transportation, thereby contributing to social infrastructure maintenance and regional revitalization.
