TMN provides Electronic Payment Gateway Services between storefronts and multitudes of settlement brands and has provided U CO-OP with its in-house prepaid service since Oct. 2023. In this occasion, TMN has utilized its existing infrastructure to provide QR/Bar Code settlement services with minimum cost to accelerate U CO-OP storefronts’ digital transformation.

Background and Purpose behind U CO-OP’s Decision

U CO-OP has previously accepted PayPay settlements through Merchant-Presented Mode, where U CO-OP members scan the PayPay QR code through their smartphones and manually enter the charged amount during checkout. This has caused delays in checkout operations as well as numerous typing mistakes of charged amount by U CO-OP members.

To resolve these operational issues, TMN has begun providing its QR/Bar Code settlement services to U CO-OP by utilizing the existing infrastructure created for the already-introduced in-house prepaid service and limiting the installation cost to a minimum.

Through this introduction, the storefronts can accept PayPay settlements by Consumer-Presented Mode, where storefronts can simply scan the code presented by the U CO-OP members, simplifying the checkout operation. Furthermore, the adoption of TMN’s QR/Bar Code settlement services that allows acceptance of numerous settlement brands was a deciding factor for U CO-OP to begin accepting Rakuten Pay as a new method of settlement.

What’s Next?

QR/Bar Code settlement market is expected to increase in its size, and TMN is expected to provide flexible services based on market trends and storefront needs to create a more convenient storefront experience and a better consumer environment.
