TMN and mediLab Releases RX Cloud

Transaction Media Networks Inc. (TMN) and mediLab, a medical AI startup firm, have agreed to a business partnership and began their release of RX Cloud, a pharmacy digital transformation service.

Background and Purpose behind the Release

The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s “Pharmacy for the Patients Plan” released in 2015 set one of its goals to making every pharmacy to become the patient’s “go-to pharmacy ”, including the centralized and continuous the collection and management of patient’s medical prescription records by 2025, to reduce the overall medical fees that has steadily risen over the years.

However, many pharmacies are finding the tasks of managing the patient’s every medical prescription from all medical facilities and over-the-counter medication while also advising patient health questions to be overwhelming. This is a major roadblock to transforming every pharmacy to become a “go-to pharmacy” with medical prescription dispensing optimization, proper medication/patient information management.

Under this situation, TMN and mediLab decided to develop a service that can assist the digital transformation of pharmacy operation without requiring massive system development and personnel investments. TMN’s experience of handling two billion settlements annually and its technology regarding the collection of substantial amounts of data process from retailer digital transformation development, were matched with mediLab’s AI analysis technology on medical prescription and other medical data.

On RX Cloud

RX Cloud is a cloud service jointly developed by members of both firms with experience in pharmacy operation, with purposes of operational optimization while maintaining safety, from pharmacist’s standpoint.
RX Cloud will begin operation with three main functions:

1. Medical Prescription Datafication
   Scan prescriptions and convert them into data through cloud drive while AI will revise nonuniform prescription formats and doctors’ writing style
2. AI Risk Detection
   AI will check the prescription contents and amounts, detect required reviews and risks such as drug mixing
3. Picking Assistance
   Create picking list based on the fixed prescription content, assist picking operations, and create two-dimensional codes that can conduct data link to medical receipt computer that can create medical receipt/medical fee statement

Combining these three functions can lead to conversion of all prescriptions into two-dimensional codes, reduction of medical receipt computer input workload and prescription dispensing errors, all the while significantly reducing patient wait times.

On top of the above-mentioned functions, RX Cloud is preparing to include further functions to increase the value of pharmacies.
