Transaction Media Networks, Inc. (TMN) has started accepting orders for TMN's newest products: UT-C20 and UT-X20.

Background and purpose of the new product launch

Since launching Japan's first cloud-based e-cash service in 2011, TMN has not only provided software services, but have also manufactured payment terminals to accumulate hardware knowledge and deepen its understanding of payment needs from merchants. Now TMN will launch a new payment terminal that can meet the various needs of retailers to strengthen its competitiveness as a payment terminal manufacturer, based on our track record of introducing services to more than 1,000 merchants.

In response to the growing acceptance of electronic payment in Japan, retailers are working to ensure convenience and differentiate themselves from competitors by supporting various payment methods such as credit cards, e-cash, QR/Bar code payments, common/independent point systems. Multi-payment terminals that can handle multiple types of payment with a single unit have become a recent trend.

In addition, TMN believes that it can increase the efficiency of retailers and add value such as flexibly responding to changes in the environment, ease of adding new services after initial usage, and providing wide range of functions such as connection to point of sale system and operational instructions. These functions and potential improvements can apply to all-directional payment situations in both large and small retailers, which is one of the concepts when developing the terminal.

UT-C20 and UT-X20 Characteristics

Multi-Payment Support It supports multi-payment such as credit card (strip, PIN, Contactless), e-cash , QR/Bar code payment, etc.
Multiple Use Methods Available as a two-piece set: UT-C20 can be used for store clerk operation and the UT-X20 for customer operation, or the UT-X20 can be used as a POS direct connection type. In addition, it is possible to add a POS function to the UT-C20, so even small stores can introduce POS in a compact manner.
Installation Methods The UT-X20 can be used for either non-integrated (wired LAN) or integrated payments.
* "Non-integrated" refers to a method of connecting payment terminals without going through POS, and "Integrated" refers to a method of connecting payment terminals via POS.
Connection Methods The UT-C20 supports wired LAN or optional wireless use (LTE/Wi-Fi).

Future Prospects

TMN will continue to contribute to the improvement of convenience for retailers and the spread of electronic payments in Japan by understanding all the needs of retailers and embodying their needs from both software and hardware aspects.

In addition, TMN is promoting transaction platform services as a gateway for all digital data by leveraging the business foundation of electronic payment gateway services that it has built up so far. By treating payment terminals as IoT devices for collecting information, TMN aims to provide consumers with a more convenient consumption experience by promoting the use of various data.
